The aim of the Learning Resource Centre is to provide the environment in which the students can obtain information and develop ideas that are fundamental to their development as independent, self-motivated and effective lifelong learners.
Materials that will enrich and support the curriculum are provided, taking into account the varied interests and abilities of the students, as well those which will meet their recreational needs. Our resources include books, audio books, DVDs, videos and posters. A range of newspapers and magazines is also available and the number of resources is increasing on an annual basis.
In the Primary schools, each class is timetabled to visit the LRC once each week. During this time, the children may be listening to a story, working on their information skills or sharing ideas on books and authors. They can also choose a book or audio book to take home.
The Secondary LRC is an extremely well-used facility, with students being encouraged to borrow both fiction and non-fiction materials. Classes visit for research purposes, using book and non-book materials, including the computer facilities. The LRC is also available for students during break times and before and after school.
