Do you have any places now?

Yes, we currently have very limited places in our  Sixth Form (Year 12) for this academic year.

What is the possibility of admission into your Primary school at this time? 

It is highly unlikely that we would be in a position to offer a place in Primary immediately.  Even if a vacancy were to arise we already hold lengthy waiting lists for each primary year group. 

How long are the waiting lists?

The waiting lists for all primary year groups are extensive and we currently have no primary places to offer.

Do you have places in your Secondary school? 

Yes, we are currently offering Year 12 places. We accept applications all year but we must abide by KHDA guidelines with regard to actual starting dates.

As there are long waiting lists are there plans to increase the number of children in each year group?

No, the JESS teaching environment is based on these numbers and will not be increased.

If my child does not gain entry this year will the application be carried forward to next year?

Yes, parents will be contacted annually and, if desired, the application will be carried forward.  Please note however that future places are limited as we offer no extra places year-on-year.

Can I apply to a year group in the future i.e. Year 7 commencing September 2014?

No we only take applications for the current age/current schooling appropriate year group, this is subject to whether the waiting list for that year group is open?

The only exception is when applying to Foundation 1, for this intake you can apply as soon as your child is born.

How will I know if the waiting list that my child is eligible for has reopened?

The waiting list will be reviewed on a monthly basis and any changes will be notified via the JESS website Availability & Waiting Lists

If the waiting list is closed can I leave my name? 

Sorry, parents will need to check the website for updates and changes. If you need clarification on your debenture status or are not sure which waiting list you should apply for, please complete an Expression of Interest form and we will advise by email.

If the waiting list is closed can I still go on a school tour?

Unfortunately  we only offer school tours to families who are eligible to apply.

If I have access to a corporate debenture, is the waiting list still closed?

No, applicants who have confirmed access to a corporate debenture can always apply.

I have two children, one of whom is eligible to apply as the waiting list is open and the other one who is not eligible to apply as the waiting list is closed, but I would like my children to attend the same school.  Can I apply for both children?

You can only apply if the appropriate waiting list is open, we do not offer sibling priority after Foundation one at the point of entry.

If I get a place for one of my children, does my other child (or children) have a better chance of gaining a place?

Only if your child (or children) is /are the age for a future Foundation 1 year. We offer priority to younger siblings of existing JESS children at the point of entry into Foundation 1. Sibling priority is not offered to older siblings or after admittance into Foundation 1.

My younger child will be the age for Foundation 1 in the future but my older child’s place at JESS is secured by a personal debenture as we do not have access to a corporate debenture.  Can I still apply?

Yes, all siblings are prioritised for admission to Foundation 1, regardless of debenture status.
