Step 1: A member of our Parent Relations Team will contact you via telephone to confirm that you are interested in a place at JESS.
Step 2: At this point you will need to submit (if you have not already done so) a copy of the latest report.
Step 3: The application will then be reviewed by our Academic staff and again you will be contacted by JESS stating that either we are in a position to offer a place, or you will be requested to visit JESS for your child to attend an interview / assessment.
Step 4: An offer letter will be emailed to you detailing the next steps and the documentation now required. Please note that all children that attend school in Dubai must be registered with the Knowledge, Human Development Authority – Education Division (KHDA) and the Ministry of Health, in accordance with their guidelines and children will not be allowed to start school without the correct documentation. Specific documentation requirements relating to your child will be detailed in your offer letter, however as a general guide, documents needed at offer stage are:
•
Entrance fee of Dhs 500. Please note that this fee is non-refundable and payable with 5 working days of the offer.
•
Registration Update Form completed.
• Full end of year
school report for the last academic year, if currently attending a school or nursery. This must include comments on academic and social progress as well as behaviour.
•
Debenture confirmation. If the offer is subject to your child being allocated an available corporate debenture, you must return the original company debenture nomination form. (This form will be included with the offer letter). The form must be fully completed by the parent and the employer, signed and endorsed with the company stamp authorising this allocation. Again, this must be returned within the deadline stated in the offer letter. If the offer is to be supported by the purchasing of a personal debenture then the appropriate payment must be received by Jumeirah English Speaking School together with the fully completed personal debenture declaration form within the given deadline detailed in your offer letter.
• A valid
UAE Residence visa. We appreciate that residence visas are not always available prior to your child starting at school, however it is essential that a copy is provided as soon as the visa process has been completed. Any children starting school without a residence visa must provide a copy of their passport with a UAE entry stamp, together with a letter from your sponsor stating that the residence visa is being processed.
• If your child is already attending school, an
original, completed and fully attested transfer certificate, as per KHDA guidelines. This is a very important document that most children need when starting a new school in Dubai. See
Transfer Certificates Explained for further detail.
• If your child is starting during an academic year, the most recent complete and detailed
interim school report for the current school year, as per KHDA guidelines.
• If your child is starting Foundation One or arriving from outside Dubai, two recent colour passport-sized
photographs of your child.
Step 5: Once the place is finalised by the confirmation and payment of the appropriate entrance fee, parents will receive confirmation via email. This will detail any outstanding documentation that is still required (as listed in Step 4 above) as well as a website link giving further information on school life.
If you wish to decline the offer please notify us by completing and returning the registration update form which will be attached to the offer letter by the deadline detailed. You should complete the appropriate sections. This is especially important if you wish to remain on the waiting list. Parents who do not respond within the deadline risk the offer being withdrawn and the child’s name being removed from the waiting list.
