Pastoral Care

The Sixth Form Team, which comprises experienced Sixth Form Tutors, Heads of Year, University Counsellors, the CAS Co-ordinator, the EE Co-ordinator, the IBDP Co-ordinator and the Head of Sixth Form, supports students, in an academic and well-being sense, throughout their time at JESS. Appropriate time is made for mentoring on a daily basis; target setting, monthly progress checks and tutor review days form an integral part of the review of students’ work and support for further progression.

JESS delivers a detailed Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) curriculum through specific days and timetabled periods to support the non-academic development of students. Our curriculum is designed to support a healthy lifestyle among students. We have a strong network of teachers that support student’s social well-being and academic performance. Non-teaching specialists — Health Office Nurses, the Educational Psychologist and Learning Support Staff — are available to help students with any problems and to ensure their well-being. This extensive support enables our students to achieve excellent results at IB level.
