General Information for Parents
• Please note that for all sporting fixtures, unless otherwise indicated, transport is not provided and it is the responsibility of the parents to take children to and from ’away’ games – we thank you for your help in this.
• Team lists will be displayed on the school notice boards, once finalised.
• Players / swimmers should always ensure that they have the necessary kit and water bottles.
• JESS, in line with the Dubai Schools Physical Education Committee’s new sporting structure, is running a season-based sporting year, along similar lines to both Northern and Southern Hemisphere private schools. However, both Pre and Post season training will take place in school and tournaments will be entered out of season.
An Explanation of the Primary Sports leagues...... The Dubai Schools Primary Rugby Football League
The RFU primary league was piloted in January 2010 and operates similarly to the football league. There are competitive leagues for Years 3 - 6. Year 3 and 4 play 7 a-side and Year 5 and 6 play 10 a -side. The first year of the league was a great success with 14 schools competing from around Dubai.
The Dubai Schools Primary Football League
The Dubai Schools’ Football League was established in 2006 to bring together children in primary schools throughout Dubai to compete in league style sporting competition. The league includes children from Year 3 - 6 and now has almost 30 primary schools competing.
The Dubai Schools Primary Netball League
The netball league takes place between November and April. There is an A and a B league for Year 5 and 6. Once all the games have been played there are play offs and finals to determine overall positions.
Throughout the year there are 3 tournaments for Year 6, 3 for Year 5 and two for Year 4.
The Dubai Schools Primary Swimming League
The swim league started out as the old Country Club Gala which included 7 schools from across Dubai and Abu Dhabi. As Dubai expanded so has the number of schools in the region. The Country Club was knocked down and an opportunity for a new league presented itself. The swim league now consists of 18 primary schools participating in competitive galas including children in Years 3 - 6 and events that cover all four strokes.
