Information Computer Technology (ICT) is taught in a variety of ways throughout the Primary school. Younger students are primarily engaged in teacher directed tasks demonstrating skill proficiency in using the technology while the older students are more focused on applying the technology to resolve contextualised problems. The ICT provisions for Primary are outlined below. These are reviewed and adapted on a regular basis to ensure provisions are of the highest quality for our students.
Foundation One (Key Stage One)
In Foundation One ICT skills are delivered in the classroom by the class teacher. Children are introduced to basic computer skills and terminology, such as mouse, keyboard and screen. Children also have access to touch screen technology.
Foundation Two (Key Stage One)
In Foundation Two children receive one 30 minute lesson of ICT per week taught by a specialist ICT teacher and their class teacher. Children have access to a wide variety of computer software to complete cross-curricular work, whilst learning key ICT skills. For example Millies Maths, RM Colour Magic (Drawing) and various literacy programs.
Years One to Six (Key Stage One and Key Stage Two)
Students receive one 45 minute lesson of ICT per week taught by a specialist ICT teacher and their class teacher. Children develop a wide variety of ICT skills using subject material from their Year group curriculum to support their learning. The scheme of work is developed by the ICT co-ordinator / teacher in close conjunction with the year group leader and class teachers. All students are encouraged to review their work and develop their ideas. They are required to discuss their effectiveness if using ICT to complete tasks and to compare its use to other methods.
All students in Years 3-6 have access to

Cross-curricular ICT
All year groups within the school recognise they have a part to play in the successful delivery of ICT experiences. It is intended that students will additionally learn about ICT by using ICT across the curriculum to enrich and enhance their learning. A growing number of mobile devices such as iPads and netbooks are available to increase the opportunity for personalised learning whilst at the same time developing 21st Century learning skills.
