The curriculum in Year 7 is designed to build on the work undertaken in Key Stage 2 and to also achieve a smooth, effective transition from primary to secondary school. A common curriculum is followed in the first three years. The subjects studied are English, Mathematics, Science, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Arabic, French, Geography, History, Art, Design and Technology, Drama, Music and Physical Education.

Apart from English. Mathematics, French and Arabic which are set, subjects are taught in mixed ability tutor groups. This continues throughout the Key Stage until Year 9 when Science is also set.

There is provision for students who experience learning difficulties. The Learning Support Department may, on occasion, withdraw students into small teaching groups for specialised attention. This may be for a short term or over the longer term.
