JESS Cycle Round the Ranches

Saturday, January 28, 2012

Over sixty cyclists from the JESS community gathered together early on Saturday morning to cycle together around the Ranches as a culmination of our campaign to ensure that our students wear cycle helmets when cycling to and from school. Mr Black started the campaign over two months ago with a series of assemblies, speakers and competitions to increase awareness of the necessity to wear helmets. This push has seen positive results and we feel more confident that our cyclists are safer on the streets of the Arabian Ranches thanks to this. There was a lovely atmosphere on the ride this morning with participants ranging in age from four years old to fifty-four, completing the 10km circuit. Although it was a cycle ride we applauded our maintenance man, Ya Ya, who managed to keep up whilst running. Everybody departed to a well earned brunch. Thank you to all those who participated and an extra special thanks to our friends at Ride Bike Shop, the Dubai Police and Ambulance services who escorted us and made the route extra safe. Keep wearing the helmets!
