JESS welcomes children with a variety of academic backgrounds and abilities. The Secondary School adopts an inclusive curriculum approach to learning and facilities a broad, balanced, relevant and challenging curriculum that is appropriate to their individual ability, talent and unique, personal qualities. The Student Services Department to provide all students with equal access to the British National Curriculum and, to maximise their learning opportunities, so that they realise and achieve their potential. Educational opportunities are designed for maximum curriculum access within the classroom. However, it is also recognised that for a few students, the least restrictive environment for learning may require some withdrawal from the regular classroom.   

The term ‘individual needs’, spans the spectrum of learning, from the youngest to the oldest, from the least able to the most able. Successful student outcomes are promoted through a school ethos of ‘personalised learning’ and ‘striving for a personal best’. The Student Services Department promotes a model of early intervention and endeavours to support the needs of able and very able students, as well as those who need help to access the curriculum fully.
