We follow the Linear Edexcel GCSE 1380 which has two tiers: Foundation and Higher. (www.edexcel.org.uk). It is expected that the majority of our students will be entered for the Higher tier. There is no coursework component.

As with Key Stage 3, the fundamental teaching and learning philosophy will be one where students experience a wide range of learning and teaching styles as a means to refine old ideas and acquire new ones. Access to kinaesthetic and e-learning resources continues at Key Stage 4 and students are increasingly encouraged to reflect on their learning and take responsibility for their own mathematical development. These key transferable skills of reflection and independent learning are crucial to a successful transition from Key Stage 4 to the IB Diploma offered at JESS.
