Throughout Years 7 to 9, the four language skills of listening, reading, speaking and writing increase in complexity. Students have the opportunity to widen and deepen their understanding of grammatical structures underpinning the language through the use of a range of resources and the Expo 1-3 textbooks. Pupils work at a variety of levels and at different paces, therefore activities are differentiated to enable the student to gain the most from their language learning. By the end of Year 9, students are expected to work independently, using dictionaries, glossaries and verb tables. These skills are developed throughout Key Stage 3. A range of topics are covered including family, town, school, hobbies, shopping, holidays, food and healthy living. Pupils also study regions in France and cultural aspects in detail.
