In Year 10, those students who have opted to continue with their academic music studies embark on the Edexcel Music course (1426). This course is rigorous and challenging, but varied and most rewarding. Skills in the three areas of Performing, Creating and Musicology of Listening and Appraising are examined.
Students are expected to study music from four areas:
Area of Study 1: Music from 1600-1800 Western Classical
Area of Study 2: Music from 1800 – present Western Classical
Area of Study 3: Popular Music
Area of Study 4: Fusions from around the world focusing on African/Indian/Indonesian
From these areas students create their own compositions and arrange performances.
