This afternoon, Year 3 performed 'Pirate Swayze and the Dirty Dancer!' The show they have been practising so hard for in recent weeks. The whole production from start to finish was absolutely amazing. The singing, dancing, acting and scenery were all of such a high standard they could have been on Broadway and they truly entertained a very proud set of parents and members of staff. Well done to Miss Magdzinski, her team and all of the children involved.
This weekend, the children of the JESS Choir, Folk Group and two soloists, Nick House and Lavinia Skandalis, performed at the Emirates Dubai Literature Festival at the Inter- Continental Hotel. The Choir performed renditions of Iris and Harmony and the Folk Group played traditional songs as well as a Michael Jackson medley which raised the roof. The event was a huge success and Miss Wilson and Miss Cotgrave were extremely proud of all the children who took part.

The wonderful positive influence that the Emirates Literature Festival has had on the school this week has been visibly and audibly tangible! We are so lucky to live in such a vibrant international city that offers so much. As part of the Festival of Literature, we welcomed two authors into school, Nadiya Hussain, winner of the Great British Bake Off and author of 'Bake me a Story', and Lee Benson author of 'The adventures of Alien Egg'. In addition, selected Year 3 and 4 children also visited Andy Stanton at the Festival of Literature itself.
Year 5 enjoyed a Design and Technology morning at JESS Ranches on Wednesday 8 March. Following designing bookmarks using 2 Design software, the pupils gratefully received the finished versions provided by the DT department. To further enhance their experience they had a tour of the department where they could see the cutting machine which made the bookmarks. Some of the Year 7 pupils also did a wonderful job of showing their younger counterparts around the campus.
Last weekend marked the first ever IAPS games. Hosted by JESS Ranches, this involved a biathlon, as well as a netball and rugby tournament. The JESS Jumeirah athletes were outstanding and began the weekend with amazing performances in the biathlon. Overall winners included Mark Agent and Henry Turner. A special mention also to the Year 6 rugby team, who won the Rugby Tournament; they played 3 games scored 117 points and conceded 0. They were described by an opposing coach as ‘a team of Sonny Bills’ in recognition of their stunning offload game. Roll on DC 7s!
