Year 6 Football Finals

Monday, December 12, 2011

On Monday 12th December the Year 6 team made their way to Jebel Ali Primary School for the Finals of the Sony Dubai Schools Football League. It was a celebration of their success in the Northern division having finished top of their group with a staggering 15 points. This was to be their last football tournament together as a team before they move on to secondary schools.

The games were short and the goals were small making it difficult to score. The first game was a draw against Dubai British School (1-1). The pressure was on for the next game against Repton who had already beaten the JESS Jumeirah team twice but only by a single goal each time. The team played with urgency from the start, secured an early goal, and held on to the end to take the much needed 3 points.

The players were on a high going into the next game against Raffles International School (RIS) but were caught off guard at the back. A lack of communication and tackling meant RIS stole a goal. With the clock ticking JESS didn’t have time to pull it back. Dubai International Academy (DIA) was the last team JESS had to play. They had already secured 3 wins and 9 points so the tournament was over for JESS. However, determined to prove that they should be going through to the finals, JESS put in a strong performance and drew 0-0 at the final whistle.

A excellent display of sportsmanship by the JESS team throughout the tournament and the season. Well done to all!

Team: Etienne Tillon, Harry Hughes, David Hunt, Harvey Bullock, Yusuf Khan, Jacob Camilleri, Jamie MacKinnon, Finlay Keegan, Grant Davidson, Jordyn Hamilton
