Receiving examination results
The IB personal codes and PIN numbers for receiving examination results are given to students before they leave so that they can access their results online.
Further details of how to access the grade breakdown and how to collect results in person from the school will be given to students and will also be published here.
Confirming results with universities and colleges
A university, college or admissions centre may require evidence of a candidate’s results directly from the IB. JESS students should inform the school where they wish their IB results to be sent and deadlines for this and instructions of how to do this will be given to students and published here in due course.
Please click here for a full explanation of the procedure for UK university applications after leaving JESS.
Receiving IB Diplomas/Certificates
These will be received by JESS in August. Families should advise us if they wish to collect the Diploma/Certificate, or if they wish the Diploma/Certificate to be couriered to them. Further instructions will be issued to students in due course.
IB marking and requests for the remarking of externally moderated examinations
The IB has a reputation for its rigorous assessment to ensure that the standards of IB assessment are the same worldwide. An international Board of IB Chief Examiners is responsible for the conduct of the examinations, setting the papers, marking and moderating the grades. They oversee a complex system of marking, moderating and grade awarding to ensure that all students are awarded the grades that they deserve. As such, the marks for examinations generally tend to be accurate and do not change radically if they are submitted for remarking. Should you wish for an externally moderated examination to be remarked the following applies:
• Requests for a remark can only be made by the IB Coordinator
• £58 per student per subject request
• There is no charge for a successful remark
• It may take between 1 to 6 weeks for the result of a remark to be made available by the IB
Coursework and Internal Assessments moderated by the IB cannot be submitted for a remark but must be taken again by candidates and submitted in November or May of the following academic year.
Please note, any student who has been entered for an examination and who fails to attend without good cause, or who fails to submit sufficient coursework, will be responsible for the cost involved. However, if a student is unable to attend an examination on any particular day for any reason, please inform the school at the earliest opportunity by contacting the Secondary School reception.
Re-sits and retakes
Students wishing to re-sit individual examinations can be entered for the November examinations and this option will be open to all students who have undertaken the IB Diploma Programme at JESS.
Students who wish to retake Year 13 will only do so at the school’s discretion. Those students who have not displayed an appropriate work ethic over the course of the IB Diploma Programme at JESS will not be accepted by the school to re-sit Year 13.
