Students from other schools who are interested in joining JESS can complete an Application Form. You will then be contacted by JESS regarding the next steps.
Admission Policy
Like most pre-university courses offered by other schools, students wishing to undertake the IB at JESS will need to have achieved a minimum standard in their GCSEs or equivalent in order to take the Diploma.
The JESS admissions requirements for students applying from outside JESS are:
* A proven track record of academic success.
* Participation in wider school life throughout their secondary schooling.
* Minimum Grade Bs at GCSE or equivalent for all subjects studied in the IBDP.
* Grade B must also be achieved in English and Mathematics.
All prospective applicants and their parents will also be invited for an interview which will be arranged at a mutually convenient time. The interview is designed to be informative but friendly, so that students feel at ease. For students applying from abroad we recognise that it will be difficult for them to attend an interview and in these circumstances we base offers on school reports, predictions and recommendations.
The purpose of the interview is to discuss the student’s options and career plans. Students will also be informed of pastoral arrangements, monitoring systems and extracurricular activities. We also take into account the information given to us in references, estimated GCSE (or equivalent) grades and information about the student’s wider contribution to his/her current school. We reserve the right to assess the level of English of students for whom it is the language of study and not spoken at home. In addition to the interview, students will have the opportunity to tour the school and meet some current students and members of staff.
In addition to this, students will be expected to have demonstrated a large degree of organisation and self-motivation as without these qualities they are unlikely to succeed in the Diploma.
An offer of a place will be given conditional on results and subject to a satisfactory reference and interview. Parents should email a copy of their son/daughter’s GCSE results in August as soon as they receive the results.
If you would like to apply, please complete the Sixth Form Application form,
