Admissions Policy

Like most pre-university courses offered by other schools, students wishing to undertake the IB at JESS will need to have achieved a minimum standard in their GCSEs or equivalent.  The JESS admissions requirement is a proven track record of academic success and participation in wider school life throughout their secondary schooling and, ideally we recommend that students obtain 6 GCSEs at grade ‘B’ or above. The admission process is very much a two-way procedure, however, and if these grades were not achieved, we would still encourage discussions to take place to decide the best way forward.

This will be subject to an interview process between the student, parents, the Head of Sixth Form, the IB Diploma Coordinator and the Head Teacher.

In addition to this, students will be expected to have demonstrated a large degree of organisation and self-motivation as without these qualities they are unlikely to succeed in the diploma.
