JESS has been in existence for well over 30 years and has established a reputation for excellent practice within Dubai and educational circles worldwide. This reputation has been built upon several key areas:

Quality Teaching and Learning
A variety of teaching styles is used so that students’ educational needs are catered for. A combination of both formative and summative assessment allows students to reflect on their progress and identify how to improve. Target setting, informed by ALIS baseline assessment, forms an integral part of the review of students’ work.

Class size within the JESS Sixth Form does not exceed 15 students.

Excellent Facilities
The school is extremely well equipped with plentiful resources; superb ICT technology, interactive white boards in each classroom, a Learning Resources Centre, state-of-the-art Science laboratories, and specialist teaching rooms for Design and Technology, Information Communications Technology, Art, Theatre and Music.

IB Diploma Programme
A wide range of subjects is on offer across the six groups of the IBDP. In addition, students complete the core programme comprising of Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS.

The smooth-running of the Diploma Programme is facilitated by the use of ManageBac. ManageBac is an online facility that students and staff can access at school or from home. This allows students to post work assignments, receive and transmit messages and plan their work to meet deadlines.

We believe this enables students to find a healthy balance between their academic studies and extracurricular commitments, and so become well-rounded individuals.

Effective structure and strong pastoral system
The Sixth Form Team which comprises experienced Sixth Form Tutors, the IBDP Co-ordinator, the CAS Co-ordinator and the Head of Sixth Form, supports students throughout their time at JESS. Appropriate time is made for mentoring on a daily basis.

Health, well-being and student support service
Non-teaching specialists—Health Office Nurses, the Educational Psychologist and Learning Support Staff—are available to help students with any problems and to ensure their well-being. Our curriculum is designed to support a healthy lifestyle among students.

Caring student community
The IBDP Learner Profile - which promotes amongst other qualities the importance of being caring, principled, knowledgeable, open-minded and balanced - forms part of the ethos of the school. As such, this helps our students to support each other.

Active parental involvement
The KHDA are impressed by the fact that the parents and staff at JESS are true partners in learning. Regular contact is encouraged by staff and parents are welcome to contact the school if the need arises.

Non-profit making school
JESS is solely financed by the fee structure and the debenture system. The money generated in these ways is used entirely for school resources and staffing.
