As an established not-for-profit school in Dubai, we at JESS believe in a broad, skills-based learning experience that provides opportunities for individuals to succeed at the highest levels. We offer the IB Diploma Programme, IB Courses and BTECs in which our students regularly achieve world class results and progress into some of the world’s top educational institutions around the world.
Year 12 and 13 is perhaps the most intensive and demanding period of education that any individual undergoes and in a highly competitive world we understand that our students need strong academic results combined with wider personal learning skills to give themselves the brightest possible future. JESS believes in an holistic education which produces students that possess maturity, confidence and a repertoire of learning skills. The skills gained during their education at the JESS Sixth Form will serve the students exceptionally well throughout their further education and into the world of work where they can make a measurable difference.
In the IB Diploma and Courses programmes, the Sixth Form Team alongside the subject specialists have developed one of the most successful post-sixteen curricula with an international reputation that compares well against top global schools. JESS also delivers a specialist educational pathway in the form of BTECs in Art, Business and Sport, which provide students with clear progression into tertiary studies or direct employment. All our programmes are delivered with the JESS high quality educational provision that our global reputation is built on.
JESS Sixth is a regional learning hub of excellence with a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education. We employ experienced, highly skilled staff, including examiners, workshop leaders and textbook authors, who regularly provide training opportunities for UAE schools, with our students becoming the natural beneficiaries.
The Sixth Form Leadership Team of nine staff members, provide a strong pastoral care system to support 100 students in a year group as they take on the challenges that the Sixth Form poses, balancing the demands of the academic and core skills elements of their programme. Classes are limited to a maximum of 16, however, the average is nearer 10, providing excellent learning opportunities. We believe in maintaining open communication and a strong partnership between home, school and the student in order to provide the best support we can for the students. JESS Sixth has two dedicated University Counsellors who guide and advise students through choosing suitable universities worldwide, assisting with the application process. We are also able to support with ACT preparation and testing for students wanting to apply to the USA.
The IB ethos permeates the school through our PSHE programme and our focus on internationalism, critical thinking and academic honesty, resulting in all students possessing the skills and values of the IB Learner Profile. Students benefit from an excellent learning environment. Our students are role models for the rest of the school, and lead many aspects of JESS life, in preparation for the life after JESS. Our students are engaged and enthusiastic and are motivated to meet the many challenges that life will pose.
