Secondary Headteacher - Arabian Ranches

The Role:

The post of Secondary Deputy Headteacher is a key leadership role within the school, which combines whole-school responsibilities with specific pastoral and academic responsibility for a Key Stage and line management of a cluster of subjects. There will also be other areas of whole school responsibility assigned to this role. It will include a minimal teaching requirement.

 

Reporting to:       Headteacher Secondary

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • The academic, pastoral and extracurricular leadership of a Key Stage.
  • Leadership of a cluster of subject areas.
  • Lead an area of whole school responsibility
  • Member of the Academic Strategy Group
  • Member of Whole-School Strategic Planning Group

JESS was established in 1976 one of the leading schools in the Middle East.  Unlike many schools in Dubai, it is not-for-profit school.

The Secondary school is situated in Arabian Ranches, which is one of the premier residential communities in Dubai.  There are 880 pupils in the school, of whom 200 are in the Sixth Form.  The School also has two Primary Schools JESS Jumeirah (700 pupils FS1 to Year 6) and JESS Arabian Ranches Primary (533 pupils).

JESS follows a UK curriculum to GCSE, and teaches the International Baccalaureate in the Sixth Form, where it has world class IB results.

JESS is a member of the Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference (HMC).

  • Have experience delivering the UK National Curriculum (IB experience is an advantage but not essential)

Head of Islamic Education

  • Must have an accredited attested degree in Islamic Studies, Share'aa or similar speciality.
  • Have the ability to teach students from Year 1 up to Year 6, for both native and non-native Arab speakers.
  • Be an experienced and highly qualified teacher of Islamic Education and be approved by MOE or KHDA, previous Head of Department experience is preferable.
  • Have a clear appreciation of quality learning and teaching, be able to offer a range of pedagogy and approaches to assessment.
  • Be a reflective practitioner able to respond positively to professional development opportunities.
  • Contribute to the development of Islamic Education teaching and learning in order to have a positive impact on the progress of students aged 3-11 years.
  • Must be fluent in English and willing to contribute to the wider life of the school.

Sunday – Thursday

7.15 a.m. – 3.45 p.m.

 

The successful applicant must:

  • Have excellent spoken and written English
  • Have exceptional attention to detail
  • Have prior customer service experience

 Main areas of responsibility:

  • Telephonist:
  • Answering the telephone and taking accurate messages

Receptionist:

  • Working alongside reception staff
  • Undertake reception duties within specified school holidays

 

Other duties:

  • To support the administrative and finance teams as and when necessary.

Sports Coach

Sports Coach

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join the thriving Sports Department at JESS as a Sports Coach. We are looking for someone who has coached Netball to a high level and has strong experiences across a variety of sports. They must be passionate about sport and wish to share this with enthusiastic and energetic young people across both the Primary and Secondary age range.

 

The role involves the following;

  • Coaching and running teams
  • Officiating as appropriate
  • Team coaching and assisting experienced subject teachers in sporting situations
  • Coaching groups in specialised topic areas
  • Being involved in after school and weekend fixtures
  • Being an integral part of the school community

The successful applicant will:

  • demonstrate the flexibility and confidence to cover Teacher absence both at short and pre-planned notice, ensuring a consistency in learning for all pupils
  • demonstrate an ability to work effectively with whole classes, small groups and individual pupils
  • demonstrate sufficient knowledge, expertise and awareness of the primary curriculum to work effectively with teachers as part of a professional team
  • be able to use information and communication technology (ICT) to advance pupils’ learning and use common ICT tools for their own and pupils’ benefit
  • to enjoy the challenge and be able to commit enthusiastically to meet the needs of all learners

  • have extensive, recent classroom experience
