BTEC Plus Programme
The JESS BTEC programme is a two-year programme that offers students a unique pathway towards university studies or a selected career path. Students focus on one area of interest, such as business, sport or art, and they complete various modules that not only give them a depth and breadth of knowledge in their chosen subject but also real-world experience.
AN INTRODUCTION
The JESS Extended Level 3 Diploma is equivalent in value to three A-Levels at university. We offer three courses – Art and Design, Business and Sport - and most students take an additional course to expand their knowledge.
The BTEC course is flexible enough for students to meet their educational needs and interests, and the students receive a balance of classroom teaching combined with project work and practical, work-related activities that develop and enhance skills such as teamwork, creative thinking and presentation techniques.
Our recent graduates have been accepted to universities around the world:

From September 2023 JESS will offer the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media. Creative Media spans a broad range of specialisms and purposes, but all practitioners in the creative industries work to enrich or improve the world around us. Before entering the industry, creative practitioners need to explore and refine different interrelated creative media practices, develop technical and communication skills and build confidence in producing outcomes to meet a need or fulfill a purpose. The BTEC in Creative Media enables students to refine their understanding of media industries and increase their levels of independence. Through a multidisciplinary approach, students will develop their knowledge and understanding of still and moving images, auditory communication, and social media, as well as the research and processes needed to create media products.
As with other BTECs, the evidence for assessment is 100% coursework based and there are no examinations. The evidence for assessment will be generated through a range of diverse activities including practical projects, briefs, workshops and engagement with the creative media industry. This prepares learners for progression to employment in the creative media industry through the development of portfolios and materials for progression.
Entrance Criteria:
- A minimum of 5 GCSE (or equivalent) grades, including English Language, at Grade 5 or above
- Strong performance in English Language and I.C.T. is advantageous
